Dontay Moch claimed by Bengals after Cardinals waived him

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Bengals today acquired DE Dontay Moch on waivers from the Arizona Cardinals.

A free agency signing!

Well, sort of at least. The Cincinnati Bengals have been criticized for once again staying quiet in the opening days of NFL Free agency, but on Friday, they finally added a player.

Technically, it was someone who was on the roster last year. After the Arizona Cardinals waived linebacker/defensive end Dontay Moch, the Bengals claimed him off waivers, and he's now back with the team who originally drafted him:

Moch (6-2, 255; Nevada) is a third-year NFL player for 2014. He was on the Arizona roster for the last 13 games of 2013, seeing action in four contests, and logged two tackles, including one sack. Moch was a third-round Bengals draft choice in 2011, but was limited by injury issues and played in only one game over 2011-12.

He was waived by Cincinnati in final 2013 preseason cuts and began 2013 on the Arizona practice squad. He’s shown a lot of promise, but his inability to stay healthy makes him a risky player to even keep on the 53-man roster. Injuries, a suspension and ineffectiveness limited him to a total of five career snaps with the Bengals.
