Bengals DB Mark Carrier at Kansas State Pro Day for FS Ty Zimmerman

The Cincinnati Bengals scouting department and coaching staff are spread throughout the United States to observe college Pro Days.

As outside observers continue to remark on Cincinnati's free agency woes, the Bengals continue their due-diligent work on developing their draft board by attending Pro Days, conducting private workouts, all in the name of rebuilding the roster through the NFL draft.

Earlier this month, Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Mark Carrier attended Kansas State's Pro Day, which featured 20 Kansas State players and a handful of prospects from smaller area schools. According to NFL.com senior writer Gil Brandt, Carrier was there to see safety Ty Zimmerman.

Zimmerman finished his four-year career with 13 interceptions, two pick-six returns, 24 passes defensed and 257 tackles.

By most accounts, Zimmerman, viewed with character excellence, is projected as a late-round prospect and an undrafted free agent. ESPN cites his instincts and recognition as above average with average coverage and ball skills.

Closing burst is average but lacks and elite recovery speed. More fluid breaking forward than having to quickly turn and open off the hash. Average man coverage skills but may struggle limiting separation against quicker slot WRs and more athletic pass catching TEs.

Since he's recovering from a right labrum injury (and surgery), Zimmerman did not attend the combine nor did he workout earlier this month at his Pro Day. He's expected to do a workout for teams on April 28 at Kansas State.
