I am still working on getting the full details of Domata Peko's two-year contract extension but the ink is now dry and there are a few nuggets I can share.
2014 $4.125M base, $200k workout bonus ($4.325M cap hit)
New contract after extension:
2014 $1.3M, $4.4M guaranteed roster bonus, $200k w/o bonus (cap hit actually $1.575M higher so now at $5.9M)
2015 $2.0M, $1.5M non-guaranteed roster bonus, $200k w/o bonus ($3.7M cap hit, no dead money if released)
2016 $3.525M, $200k w/o bonus ($3.725M cap hit, no dead money if released)
He's assured now of collecting his original $4M+ salary for 2014 plus a bit more and the Bengals get the no-pain option for future years. This gives the Bengals cap flexibility in the future (similar to how Geathers was extended last year). The $200k workout bonus remains for 2014 plus was included for the 2015-2016 years as well.
Devon Still and Brandon Thompson are both under contract through 2015 so the Peko extension should eliminate DT as a need position for the next two years (assuming Geno returns to form and everyone else stays reasonably healthy).
