New to CJ, and reading posts I agree with many of you. Here's a potential scenario... I could see Houston going with Clowney and the Browns possibly going Watkins at 4 and waiting until their 26 pick to get Carr or another QB they want. If we're not enamored with a player that falls to us at 24, perhaps we should trade back and let a QB needy team jump ahead of Cleveland, like... Houston.
Looking at Draft Trade values, what if:
Houston gets our 24, we get their 33 (1st pick of 2nd round)
We swap 3rd and 4th round picks so we get 65 and 101, they get 88 and 123.
Good idea or not? We'd then have no 1st, but the 33rd, 55th, 65th, and 101st in 2-4 rounds.
33: I really like Carlos Hyde to give us a dominant running game, which Hue says is a priority. If not, Fuller or Verrett, Ealy, Ford, or Kouandjio, someone would fall to us.
55: I'm going Center Martin from USC, or CB Gaines from Rice. Other possibility is SS Jimmy Ward
65: If we didn't get Martin at 55, then other top Centers Swanson or Richburg, or DE Lynch from S. Florida, CB Jean-Baptiste Nebraska
101: QB Aaron Murray
Rest of draft is projects, depth and luxury picks usually, but would like to upgrade the return game with a speedster.
* All this comes with the understanding that:
- the Bengals just don't trade up, but like to trade back
- that we'd all like to screw the Browns out of getting the QB they target at 26
- that while some of us might like to see the Bengals pull the trigger at 24 on a QB ourselves like Carr I just don't see the Bengals putting Dalton in that position. Might be best thing long term but I don't see Marvin and Brown doing it
Draft can't get here soon enough! Who Dey, and Happy Easter!
