Missing Pieces Mock Draft 4/27

ROUND 1 JIMMIE WARD SAFETY NIU

I haven't seen any one go safety first round for our team unless Calvin Pryor slipped to 24. IMO this is one of our biggest needs. Having a strong group of safeties is key in the NFL and teams gearing up for SuperBowl runs know this look at the Saints who just acquired J Byrd, Broncos who took TJ Ward The 49ers didnt take time to replace Whitner with Antoine Bethea. Anyways Jimmie Ward is the best safety available and Bucannon and Joyner won't be available round 2 and the depth at corner is insane this year so no pressure to take one here unless Dennard is here(idk well see). Jimmie Ward is fast (4.48 Pro day). He has great cover skills in zone and in man to man. He could probably even play corner tbh. He's a very secure tackler but can and will deliver the big hit if its there. He has an eye for the ball and has great hands. Hes patient and won't get fooled easily and sticks to his assignments. He can also contribute to special teams and is a great blitzer off the edge.

ROUND 2 TELVIN SMITH OLB FSU

Would love if he fell to us at 55. If he does we should take him no questions asked. He plays the game the way it should be when youre a linebacker (like youre on the juice). He's fast (4.52). Hes a tackling machine who wraps up and hits hard. He can go sideline to sideline and never gives up on the play. Hes a team player and the type of guy you want in your locker room. Him Burfict and Rey (both of em) could be scary. He has great coverage skills too which is something most of our linebackers arent the best in. He has a high football IQ and sees the play developing which is why he gets to the ball first.

ROUND 3 PIERRE DESIR CB LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY

Love this pick here. A d2 product with d1 talent and he proved it in the senior bowl. He has great size and has blanket coverage (although it wasn't against the best wr) he can play at NFL speed. A great tackler and never runs away from contact. I found that a lot of our corners didnt tackle properly. (The game against the colts last year is a prime example). Hes a great player and is the type of cornerback who can be your #1 down the road.

ROUND 4 ANDRE WILLIAMS RB BC

He wants to boost the running game? Andre Williams is the perfect guy to do it. Hes a north south runner and would be a good compliment to GIOOOOO and BJGE. He sees the hole and hits it. He gets low and will run over you if youre not ready. When he gets into open field you wont be getting him down if you try to arm tackle his tree trunk legs. He can take the workload we need this year and will help tire out defences. He can also be a fb in some situations and has no problems taking on lbs or lineman.

ROUND 5 JON HALAPIO G FLORIDA

We need depth on the line and its the 5th round so better start now. Jon has great size and big hands that can eat up a lb or safety. Hes more athletic than he showed at the combine (21 inch vert) and pro day 27 inch vert! Dont kno wmuch about oline sooooooo yeah. He could eventually start in the nfl good depth pick.

ROUND 6 NEVIN LAWSON CB UTAH STATE

Love this guy. He has great speed (4.38 at pro day) and good size for corner 5'10 190lbs.
-good coverage (man or zone) can run down with receivers without drawing flags turns his head and gets to the ball at the highest point
-once he has the ball in his hands he can take it for 6 (could also be a good kr\pr)
-tackles very well in open space and wraps up
-on an outside run hell avoid the wr block and step up and mirrors the qb or rb and never gives up his position
-has the swagger and confidence u want ur db to have

ROUND 6 KEVIN NORWOOD WR ALABAMA

STEAL in this round maybe the wr steal of the draft. Hell be gone in the real draft but this is a mock. He's fast for his size (4.47) 6'2 200 pounds. He runs nice routes and is always where hes supposed to be and the qb can always find him. His best asset is his consistency. 3rd and long? send the ball his way hell catch it hes very reliable and doesnt drop balls.

ROUND 7 COREY LINSLEY C OSU

TOO LAZY but we need depth at oline

ROUND 7 JEFF MATTHEWS QB CORNELL

BIG BOY WITH A NICE ARM (I THINK HE CAN EVENTUALLY START)

Some of these picks are unrealistic in the later rounds. I would also hope the Bengals sign TYRELL PEARSON CB from south alabama (amazing cornerback) but because of his size wont be drafted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHOPXyCRj3Y

Also a steal in the later rounds we should look at is COLT LYERA TE OREGON character issues is why hes so low if not hes 2nd or 3rd TE taken. He could replace gresham.

Dri Archer
SPEED KILLS and this guy has it can play rb slot/wr and KR PR we need a new kr and pr someone that can change the tempo of the game for us i dont think theres much left in Ben Tates tank.

What I really think we should do is trade out of the first round with a QB needy team that missed their chance. so we can get more picks if not trade with san fran since they have picks to throw.
