1. WR Sammy Watkins (Clemson): Tampa Bay (#7) trying to get in front of Cleveland (#4) to draft him?
Tampa Bay pretty much threw their collective hat in the ring for a WR when sending Williams to Buffalo. To get in front of Cleveland, they'd have to trade up with Houston, St Louis, or Jax. Jax, which lacks a 2nd Rd pick, might be happy to do that in exchange for Tampa's 2nd Rounder. The Rams, who are likely looking at a LT, might also be happy to pick up an additional 2nd Rd pick (even if it means that they take Jake Matthews instead of Greg Robinson (or vice versa). Let's hope that the Browns don't get Watkins to do with the rest of their receiving threats. Then all they'd need is a QB. LOL
2. DT Aaron Donald (Pitt):
I don't know about you, but I get the sneaking suspicion that Mike Zimmer would love to have mini-Atkins playing the Atkins position in his new MN D. Taking Donald at #8 overall (or even trading back a few spots and grabbing him) would seem to bring an "Aaaaaaah" moment, wouldn't it? Otherwise, the Bears (#14) and the Cowboys (#16) are rumored to have eyes for Donald. That doesn't keep someone else from moving up for him however. I think he'll be a player of intrigue between picks 5 and 15 on draft day.
3. QBs: Which to Where?
This whole thing has gone upside down, and now we're hearing about all kinds of QBs moving into the 2nd and 3rd Rounds. Are these projections getting a bit irrational? Depending on who you read, the top QB can be any of the three of Manziel, Bridgewater, and Bortles. But then some have Derek Carr going perhaps even as the second QB. Some have Manziel or Bridgewater falling to the point where they could be taken by the Bengals. Some have Garoppolo creeping into the early 2nd Rd. McCarron into the 2nd. Savage, Mettenberger, Murray, and Logan Thomas all in the 3rd. That would be crazy, wouldn't it, if 10 QBs went in the first 100 picks (especially when the class has been said to be no better than average)?
