Remember back to when Carson Palmer was the Bengals' starting QB? It doesn't feel like it was four years ago does it? I still remember when he announced he didn't want to be a Bengal any more. It was heart breaking.
But now, three seasons later, we have a starting QB that has not only replaced Palmer, but has played in more playoff games than him.
And that QB's name is Andy Dalton. I decided to compare Dalton's first three seasons in the league to Palmer's first three. What you see may surprise you.
Andy Dalton : Passing Attempts - 1,630
Passing Completions - 992
Total Yards - 11,360
Touchdowns - 80
Interceptions - 49
Carson Palmer : Passing Attempts - 941
Passing Completions - 608
Total Yards - 6,733
Touchdowns - 50
Interceptions - 30
Remember though, that Carson Palmer didn't play any games in his first season. But unless he had a phenomenal rookie campaign, he still wouldn't have the same stats as Dalton.
Many people would say, including myself, that Palmer had a successful time when he was a Cincinnati Bengal. Hopefully we will be saying the same thing about Andy Dalton in the coming years.
