Prior to the beginning of summer, I posted my opinion that the FO needed to get extensions done with Green and Burfict ASAP. I felt that it sent a good message to the team (as well as any free agents we could potentially still sign), and it ensured that two very important players came into camp with positive attitudes.
I was told by many on here, for reasons I'm still not quite sure of, to relax. Plenty of time.....draft, free agents first......then the FO will turn to the extensions. I've seen reports that the FO is talking to Dalton and Burfict, and we all know the option was exercised on Green. However, no deals have been signed. I'm getting a little worried now.
Is the FO going to blow the chance to solidify two key pieces to a solid future in a tough division. I mean, Dalton could possibly be replaced (although I think he is a good QB, and finding good QB on this level is not easy), and the offense (esp with Hue's run, run, run talk) can shoulder the blow of losing Green. But BURFICT!......no way, the guy is going to be a great LB for years to come, and a defense needs a leader at that position to be great. We took the risk, it paid off, so lock him down already! Make him LOVE those stripes......sooner the better.
Anyway it's time to change the aura of this organization for good! We see the change already, but we have to keep going. Showing the league and the fans that the FO is in the business of winning, and not just making money should be priority. If something doesn't get done soon....I think it hurts us.
