So, I'm starting to think about where I want to go next year, and I'm running out of ideas. I know some of you are fellow world travelers, so I thought I might use your favorite places as inspiration for where I should go next.
So, gang, where have you traveled to, and which places did you love/not love?
Here's my list:
Favorites:
Burma - Raw and beautiful. Almost completely unchanged by tourism (for now)
Rwanda - Inspiring people, incredible scenery -- and gorillas!
Italy - History + food + the Italian way of life. What's not to like?
France - Pure class on every level
Japan - Amazing culture, wonderful people-- but so expensive :(
Loved:
Laos - Laid back, incredible nature, wonderful culture.
Uganda - Mostly because it was my first overseas trip on my own
Vietnam - Incredible food, great scenery. Towns are a little hectic for my taste
Kenya - People and wildlife are amazing
Greece - History plus amazing islands and the bluest water I've ever seen
Ethiopia - Incredible culture and history
Indonesia - So many different cultures and experiences in one country
Peru - Huge variety of scenery -- desert, coast, rainforest, mountains
Thailand - The north especially is amazing, but many places are overrun by tourists.
Liked:
Cambodia
Argentina
England
Scotland
Czech Republic
Netherlands
Portugal
Spain
Ireland
Zanzibar
Mexico
Was Okay:
Brazil
Poland
Austria
Germany
Glad I went. Don't need to go again:
China - So crowded and no personal space
Israel - The Christian sites were overbuilt and had no soul. Plus they kept questioning me like a terrorist because I went to Jordan first.
Egypt - Amazing historical sites, but too hectic for me to want to spend much time there
Russia - Super expensive and people were pretty cold
Wasn't there long enough to really say:
Canada
Denmark
Norway
Sweden
Estonia
Finland
Jordan
Turkey
