Wilson vs Dalton

I read the headline this morning, Wilson leads Seahawks over Packers, and I thought wow, I wonder how things would be different if it were the Bengals. I guess it is technically true that Wilson lead the offense to the game winning TD in overtime. He was extremely good in OT completing 3 of 3 for 80 yards and the game winning TD. But Wilson's stat line for the game was 14 of 29 for 209 YDS 1 TD 4 INT 44.3 QBR. The Packers Defense was good, but faltered at the end. It was not QB play that won the game, it was Defense and conservative play calling by the Packers that allowed them to get back in the game, oh and seemingly a ton of luck by the Seahawks. If the Seahawks had lost the game, it would have been on Wilson, right? Honestly, watching that game, Wilson didn't really have or do anything much different than Dalton would have...except I don't know that the confidence would have been there to make such a drive in OT.

EDIT: Wow, seriously this is great feedback, it shows all the opinions we have on Dalton. I didn’t have time to form a better post and get it out there in time to let everyone discuss, so I’ll add my input now.

First off, Wilson has proven he’s better than Dalton, I don’t think they are miles apart, but certainly Dalton has shown he can not do some of the physical things as well, and he certainly doesn’t have all the intangibles that Wilson has. The Bengals offense doesn’t run the same plays, but I didn’t see any throws that Wilson made that Dalton can’t make. Dalton would not have handled the pressure as well as Wilson did. Dalton lead 4 4th quarter comeback drives this season, tying his rookie season, maybe not as impressive as the Seahawks drives, but you can’t say that Dalton could not do it.

As I watched this game, I could not help but notice the way the whole Seahawks team stepped up, executed and made plays. I don’t see that from the Bengals team as a whole, Hill and Kirkpatrick seemed to step up, but no one else really did with them. The Seahawks just won the game and are going to the Super Bowl, in spite of poor QB play. The Bengals have not been able to do this, and as much as fans like to blame Dalton, isn’t it clear that it’s more than a QB that this team needs?
