One of the top tight ends set to hit free agency looks like he'll almost certainly be on a new team in 2015.
The Cleveland Browns are a mess, and Jordan Cameron doesn't want to be part of it. News is emerging that tight end Jordan Cameron wants out of Cleveland. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports that Cameron, who's set to hit NFL free agency, is not interested in returning to Cleveland.
If that happens, Cameron would easily be one of the top tight ends to hit the market this offseason, perhaps even the second best behind Denver's Julius Thomas. However, injuries and inconsistent QB play have limited Cameron's production over his first four NFL seasons.
In 2014, Cameron caught just 24 passes for 424 yards and two scores in 10 games. He missed six due to a concussion, and his history of concussions has helped lead to him missing nine games over the past three seasons. Cameron did have a breakout 2013 campaign with 80 receptions for 917 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.
It's possible Cameron gets a nice contract that doesn't have much guaranteed money. With such a bigger emphasis on preventing concussions, Cameron could be forced to retire if he suffers a few more concussions. He suffered his third concussion in less than a two-year span this past year, making him a very risky free agent.
However, his upside is very high, and Cameron will likely get some kind of contract that pays him a good amount in 2015.
