The season may be over for James Wright, but he'll remain a Bengals player for the time being.
After the team waived the second-year wide receiver on Tuesday, Wright cleared waivers on Wednesday and reverted back to the team's Injured Reserve list. His 2015 season is now officially over, but the Bengals will hold onto him heading into 2016 in hopes he can bounce back and make the roster next year.
That is, assuming he's able to make it back onto a football field. According to Geoff Hobson, Wright may have another procedure done on his knee. "Indications are Wright is facing season-ending knee surgery in the wake of tearing his PCL late last season," Hobson wrote.

Wright was believed to be fully recovered from a PCL injury that prematurely ended his 2014 season. It occurred in Week 13 against the Buccaneers last year, a game in which Wright caught three receptions for 59 yards (19.7 average) with a long of 30. There may have been a setback in his recovery at some point this offseason, but regardless, his 2015 season is over before it ever begins.
