A mock draft from a guy who barely knows anything about drafting :)

Oh, Lord. This is probably going to be ugly. So I've been a Bengals/football fan for 10 years now, but I've only recently gotten into the nit and gritty of it (basically, what I don't see on TV during the games). I watched the Draft last year on a whim and enjoyed it and enjoyed following the rookies who came as a result. So this year I thought I'd try to really get into it prior to the Draft so I know what's going on. I should also mention that I'm still learning the jobs of the individual defensive players and the offensive line, and I know next to nothing about the college level.

So with that said, I've been reading up and feel that these are the positions of need this upcoming year.

Defensive Tackle
Cornerback
Wide Receiver (I'm predicting we lose Marvin Jones)
Linebacker
Safety (I'm predicting we lose Nelson)
Guard
Center

And here is what I ended up drafting using Fanspeak:

Round 1: DT - Andrew Billings (Baylor)

Knowing the Bengals, I went with Best Player Available. Billings was the top guy at a position that I felt we needed.

Round 2: OLB - Jaylon Smith (Notre Dame)

I've heard this name quite often and how if he falls to us in the 2nd he'd be a steal. Having heard that and seeing he was not only still available but the Best Player Available, I had to grab him. It won't help us immeidately, but he should set us up for the future.

Round 3: CB - Tavon Young (Temple)

Simply Best Player Available at a position we need. We have Dennard and Kirkpatrick, but not much depth behind them, and I don't expect Hall to return this season.

Round 4: WR - Jordan Williams (Ball State)

I considered going for the Kicker Roberto Aguayo because I hear he's going to be the next Gostkowski and was expected to go in the 2nd or 3rd rounds, but expecting to lose Marvin Jones I didn't want to wait another round to draft a Wide Receiver. I expect Sanu to jump to the #2 spot (though I don't think he should stay there) and for Wright and Alford to fill in behind him, so this is more of a competition pick.

Round 5: G - Greg Pyke (Georgia)

Best Player Available to fill depth.

Round 6: S - Tyvis Powell (Ohio State)

I wanted to draft a Safety sooner in case we loose Nelson and/or Iloka, but I honestly expect them both to come back this year. So this is more so a "drafting the future" type of scenario.

Round 7: WR - Jalin Marshall (Ohio State)

At this point I simply took the Best Available Player at any of the positions I felt were a need. I know I drafted a WR earlier, but he was there. Looking back, I'm thinking I should have taken a LB either here or in Round 6 since Jaylon Smith wouldn't be able to play much in rookie year.

So fellow Who Dey fans... how badly did I do?
