After a 2015 season that saw Andy Dalton emerge as the quarterback we were all hoping he would prove to be, there was much speculation about what went right and why he had such a great year.
In my opinion, Dalton's 2015 season was a product of a number of things all combining to go right at once. Dalton was in his second year of Hue Jackson's offense, he was in his fifth year in the NFL, his receiving corps was potentially the best it had ever been and he spent a good deal of time training during the offseason with legendary baseball and quarterbacks coach, Tom House.
In 2016, Jackson is gone and so too are two of the Bengals' top three wide receivers from 2015, but Dalton has even more experience under his belt now entering his sixth NFL season and he isn't discontinuing his work with House. Many have credited House (who has also worked with Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, Matt Cassel, Alex Smith and Tim Tebow) with being the reason Dalton improved so significantly in 2015.
This week, with just about 10 days left prior to the start of training camp, Dalton is back in California working with House.
I'm not sure what "SMF" means, but Dalton is apparently an SMF guy, according to The MMQB's Albert Breer. Breer appears to be in Los Angeles writing a story on House's work with NFL quarterbacks.
It's great to see Dalton is back working with House this week. It's at least his second trip out to Los Angeles to work with House this offseason after also going out west to work with House in March. In past years, Dalton has gone to L.A. with some of his receivers so they could all work together with House, though it's currently unclear if he's in L.A. with any of his teammates right now.
It does look like Dalton traveled to California with his family, as his wife, Jordan, posted these family photos on Instagram:
