We already let you weigh in on who you think the Week Two Bengals' Most Valuable Player, so now it's time for a bit trickier one. Though Cincinnati's win over Pittsburgh wasn't pretty, there were a number of guys that contributed to the big win. Here are some of our nominees for the Week Two "Unsung Hero of the Week Award".
BenJarvus Green-Ellis: Though Giovani Bernard was the star of Monday Night Football, Green-Ellis had some nice moments as well. Yes, "The Law Firm" only had 3.4 yards per carry, but the Steelers run defense is still stout and that has to be kept in mind. Really though, Green-Ellis' made significant contributions in sealing the game in the fourth quarter by banging through the Steelers' defense and chewing up the clock.
Tyler Eifert: Through two games, the Bengals' rookie tight end has come in as advertised. He had the longest play of the evening with a great catch-and-run for 61 yards, which helped to turn the tide for the rest of the game. Even though his other two receptions netted just five more yards, he still has become a great target for Andy Dalton and has assisted in alleviating the pressure on A.J. Green.
Jermaine Gresham: Quite the dynamic duo the Bengals have at tight end, eh? Gresham has been keeping pace with Eifert in receiving yards and added 66 of his own on Monday Night on six catches. He has been playing with a real mean streak in 2013, consistently breaking tackles and catching almost everything thrown his way. He did have a couple of false start penalties on Monday, but he has played well through two games.
Andy Dalton: After playing well in Chicago, Dalton had a rough start against the Steelers. He was sailing passes and missing open players. After a game plan shift by the staff, Dalton found a groove and completed 25 of 25 passes for 280 yards and a touchdown. Not only did he avoid taking any sacks and making any turnovers, but he distributed the ball around to seven different receivers. Though he wasn't spectacular and had his moments of poor play, Dalton avoided the big mistake and played solid later on.
Domata Peko: What a game by the big guy, who was able to come through on his "Hard Knocks" promise to his son by beating the Steelers. On defense, Peko was part of a recharged defensive front and had two tackles, a half sack and a hit on Ben Roethlisberger. The Bengals also effectively used their defensive tackle as a fullback in the second half, as they chewed the clock to ride to victory.
Kyle Cook: The embattled center has settled in, healed up and is playing solid football. He helped anchor a line that kept Dalton clean for a good portion of the night and led the unit in getting tough yards throughout the game. Both Green-Ellis and Bernard found nice holes to run through and Cook had a great block on Bernard's touchdown run.
