2013 Bengals Season Awards: Best Free Agent Signing Of The Year

Andy Lyons

We continue the Cincy Jungle staff picks for the team's 2013 season awards. We look at some of the best signings that the team made this offseason with some free agents.

The Cincinnati Bengals rarely are proactive in free agency. It drives some fans to madness, especially with the continuous good standing with cap space, but still manage to make some shrewd moves here and there. Most are on team-friendly deals with players who are perceived as being "over-the-hill" and/or have fallen out of favor with their previous team, but the Bengals staff has been able to get quite a bit out of these re-tread players.

We decided to look at the best free agent signings that the team made in 2013. The Cincy Jungle staff looked at overall production and didn't shy away from players who were previously Bengals and simply re-signed with new deals this past offseason.

Anthony Cosenza: Though I was very impressed with the tandem of Terence Newman and Adam Jones this season, I have to go with Wallace Gilberry. He tied for the team lead with 7.5 sacks as mostly a rotational guy.

Josh Kirkendall: Offensive guard, Mike Pollak. He stepped in as relief for both Kevin Zeitler and Clint Boling this year when they went down with their respective injuries.

Mickey Mentzer: Defensive back Chris Crocker gets my vote. He came in off of the street and performed well.

Nick Seuberling: Chris Crocker also gets my vote.

Mojokong: Linebacker James Harrison.

willPOWER: James Harrison for me, as I think he brought a lot of leadership.

Mike Townsend: I'm with some of the others with Harrison as well.

Andrew Miller: I'm going to have to give my vote to Crocker.
