The Bengals announced on Thursday that they've promoted cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, waiving safety Tony Dye to make room from Lewis-Harris. The move was in response to Terence Newman's MCL sprain that is reportedly expected to keep him out for 1-3 weeks.
Don't worry, Dye didn't go far.
After he clearing waivers, the Bengals announced that they've signed Dye back to the practice squad. Dye spent nearly two months on the practice squad earlier this year, called up to the 53-man roster when Chris Crocker was doubtful against the Cleveland Browns. In that game, Dye returned a blocked punt for a touchdown during Cincinnati's 41-20 win over the Browns.
