Random numbers: Examining Bengals second quarter schedule of the season

Let's quickly examine the schedule for quarter #2 of the season.

After heading to Kansas City, the Bengals will host the New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers before heading back out to Buffalo.

Since 1987, the Bengals and Chiefs have rotated wins.

Date Result
Sept. 10, 2006 W, 23-10
Jan. 1, 2006 L, 3-37
Nov. 16, 2003 W, 24-19
Oct. 10, 1993 L, 15-17
Oct. 1, 1989 W, 21-17
Nov. 13, 1988 L, 28-31
Dec. 6, 1987 W, 30-27 OT

After that, the Bengals lost five of the next six games between 1986-1978. Then won five straight between 1972-1977. Then lost four of five between 1968-1970. All-time the Bengals are 11-12 playing the Chiefs.

When was the last time the Bengals beat the New York Jets? September 9, 1990. They've lost five straight against the Jets.

When was the last time the Bengals beat the Buffalo Bills? November 27, 1988. The Bengals have lost eight straight against the Bills.

When was the last time the Bengals beat the Bills in Buffalo? November 3, 1985.

Against the AFC East? The last time the Bengals beat ANYONE in the AFC East was the New England Patriots on September 9, 2001. Sadly, you have to go back to 1992 (W 20-10) when the Bengals won a second game against AFC East foes.

During the Marvin Lewis era, the Bengals are 3-5 against the Steelers having won two of those three in the past three games.

When was the last time the Bengals beat the Steelers in Cincinnati? December 30, 2001.

The combined record of all four teams the Bengals are set to play in the next four weeks? 8-11 -- Pittsburgh (4-1), Kansas City (2-3), New York Jets (1-4), Buffalo Bills (1-3)

Did you know: The Pittsburgh Steelers are the only team that's scored more points then allowed in the AFC North. With an 85 point differential, the Steelers lead the Ravens (-9) by 94 net points with the Bengals (-23) and Browns (-26) bringing up the rear. Sound familiar?

Did you know II: The Jets haven't won a game this season on the road. The Bills and Chiefs are 1-1 at home while the Steelers are 1-1 on the road.
