Snyder interested in Chad Johnson

Two unnamed NFL general managers think that it would either take a low first-round pick and a third round pick, or two second-round picks, to acquire Chad Johnson through a trade. One coaching candidate told the Washington Post that one of Dan Snyder's highest priorities is to trade for an elite receiver.

Numerous league sources, including some with direct knowledge of conversations between Snyder, Cerrato and recent head coaching candidates, have affirmed that the Redskins have interest in trading for Cincinnati wide receiver Chad Johnson, with two league sources saying Johnson is eager to land a hefty new contract from Washington.

Acquiring an elite receiver is Snyder's top priority, league sources said. The Bengals have said they have no intention of trading Johnson, but his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is working quietly to broker a deal, the sources said.

This wouldn't relieve the $8 million cap hit if the Bengals end up trading Johnson. But one has to wonder just how well Johnson will mesh with teammates or how he'll limit distractions heading into 2008. Have things gone beyond repair? If the Bengals don't trade Johnson, there's some serious repair work between Johnson and Marvin Lewis. Not impossible. I just don't see it.

We'll see if Oil Slick can pull off the deal.

I think they should jump on this..
I say take a first and third round pick, and TE Chris Cooley......we would be winners in that kind of deal, especially since we are not allowed to draft a TE that actually catches and runs with the ball. I see Cooley play a lot, that guy is a great tight end and a great person, plus 2 picks to get another receiver or more importantly...DEFENSE!!!!!

RE:
You think they'd give up a 1st and 3rd AND Chris Cooley?

Not this year's 3
I believe the redskins don't have a third round pick this year, I heard them talking on the radio about possibly a 1st round this year, third round next year, and Cooley.
They were all pumped about it. Of course, they are a little short on receivers....

Nooooooooooo!
If the Redskins get Chad Johnson, I will jump off a building.  As a resident of the DC Metro area, I already hate the Redskins with a passion.  I almost slit my wrists when the idiot local media spent days arguing that Todd Collins was a top tier quarterback -- and they weren't joking when they said it!  Having Chad come here would drive me right over the edge.
