Shaun Smith talks about Chad Johnson fight -- why?

PFT threw up a video of Shaun Smith (yea, Shaun Smith) detailing the "fight" at half-time between the Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005's Wild Card game. The video has since been removed -- I missed it too.

On Monday night, speaking at a recent meeting of the Central Maryland Browns Backers, former Bengals defensive tackle Shaun Smith acknowledged that Chad Johnson took a swing at Lewis -- and made contact.

Asked at the 5:20 mark of the clip about the incident that occurred in the team's locker room during the only playoff game of the Lewis era, Smith said of Johnson: "He swung on Marvin. . . . [Johnson] shattered the training room glass. . . . He swung on Marving [and] hit Marvin in the eye. . . . Then he tried to swing on wide receivers coach Hue Jackson, who's now in Baltimore."

I guess the question is, why would Smith make this up? Perhaps because he's a Browns player. Or maybe he's bitter about the Bengals because of something else. What advantage does Smith gain doing this? Admittedly, I missed the video -- have no idea it's intentions, purposes or what it was -- and perhaps the Bengals discussions was secondary. I don't know.

no way?
All-pro receiver or not, there's no way Marvin stands for a physical assault on both his person and his leadership. I have to think Smith is just acting as an instigator here, throwing gas on the already uncomfortable fire surrounding Chad and his relationship with the team as a whole. I have to think that because the converse is just too depressing; that Chad really is a cancer, that Marvin has lost control- or at least the respect of, the team and the underwhelming performance the past two seasons is the eating of the pudding in which the proof lies. Say it ain't so...

RE:
Do you think that Smith threw this nugget out there simply to help everyone remember that Chad really really wants to leave?

How do you make that connection? Well, Smith and T.J. Houshmandzadeh are friends. T.J. and Chad Johnson are great friends. So..............
