Several Bengals sustain injuries against the Steelers

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

It's a nasty battle of an AFC North game and the game rarely ends without its injuries.

The Cincinnati Bengals won an exciting game on Monday Night Football, knocking off their division rivals 20-10. Flutes from heaven echo their sweet sounds throughout planet Earth. The sweet caress of angels singing wasn't an accurate description of the bruising game that was sloppy early and dominated by Cincinnati's defense and running game late.

But it wasn't without it's price.

Most of the injuries from Cincinnati's win are currently unknown (actual injuries and severity), but the team endured.

Two defensive ends suffered injuries. Robert Geathers quickly departed the game in the first quarter and was quickly declared out, which usually suggests a concussion or something significant. Michael Johnson was forced out for a period to undergo concussion protocols suffered during Geno Atkins quarterback sack, but was cleared and quickly returned.

Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick showed up on the sidelines in street clothes at some point in the second half, being declared out with an undisclosed injury -- not before making a touchdown saving tackle at the one (which didn't matter because the Steelers scored anyway). But like Geathers, he was ruled out for the rest of the game.

There were other injuries, but nothing more than your usual bruises in the NFL: Rey Maualuga gripped his wrist after a tackle, Geno Atkins took his time getting up.

We'll learn more about injuries this week.
