Do you ever wonder, while playing Madden 2007 for the XBox 360, if other players play as their own team? In fact, would you be insulted that a Bengals player played as the Steelers? We know Carson won't. And we know Chad is probably playing as himself -- you know THAT is true. Even as Carson Palmer plays his younger brother, Jordan, there's one thing that could be worse than another Bengal player arrested -- being on the cover of Madden 2008.
Something a little more serious?
Mark Curnutte and Chick Ludwig both agree, baggage needs to be let go and it's time for a change.
I've said this one, but the prospect of having Mike Brown determine the fate of this team is terrifying.
But it may be too late. Now his voice is heard -- if he's in the middle of a forest and speaks, does he make a sound -- and with that, it could force Brown to have a more commanding role in the players this team picks up | looking at backgrounds | drafting better.
"There may be some gifted athletes we won't pick that we might have picked a year ago," Brown told the newspaper...
"It did not displease me that the judge did that. We're trying to do the same thing with Chris, to send a message to other players," Brown said...
"There's only so much we can do in these situations," Brown said. "We can't act as forcefully as we did in the past. ... Our hands are tied. We can't fine, sanction or fire a player."...
"I don't think it's wrong to give people a chance, and that includes Chris Henry," Brown said. "He has paid a real price for it in his personal life and for us, and I don't abandon hope for him at all."...
"Everyone here is fed up with this, including Marvin and me, and we want it to stop," he said...
I won't go into specifics about players Brown has picked up during the pre-Marvin Lewis era (uh hum, David Klingler, Akili Smith). But knowing that Brown is more active, speaking out and showing his hand on the team's drafting character, it makes me wonder if Browns' involvement may turn this from a bad situation to a disaster.
