The Bengals were victim of another free agent defection. This time, the Bengals lost backup quarterback Anthony Wright to the New York Giants. In response, Bengals.com reports, that Cincinnati will play host to Tim Rattay.
Rattay's stats:
SEASON | TEAM | Games/Started | Comp. | Pct. | Yards | TDs | INTs |
2000 | SF 49ers | 1/0 | 1 | 100 | -4 | 0 | 0 |
2001 | SF 49ers | 3/0 | 2 | 100 | 21 | 0 | 0 |
2002 | SF 49ers | 4/0 | 26 | 60.5 | 232 | 2 | 0 |
2003 | SF 49ers | 11/3 | 73 | 61.9 | 856 | 7 | 2 |
2004 | SF 49ers | 9/9 | 198 | 60.9 | 2,169 | 10 | 10 |
2005 | TB Bucs | 4/4 | 56 | 57.7 | 667 | 5 | 6 |
2006 | TB Bucs | 4/2 | 61 | 60.4 | 748 | 4 | 2 |
CAREER | 36/18 | 417 | 60.7 | 4,689 | 28 | 20 |
The Bengals would likely do one of two things. Sign someone like Rattay and have that person compete with Doug Johnson for the backup job. Or draft a late second-day quarterback. Also, the Bengals would in conversation with Drew Bledsoe before he announced retirement (remember, Elvis Grbac?)
