Bengals sign third undrafted free agent linebacker

The Bengals signed their third undrafted linebacker free agent since the conclusion of the draft.

"I bring to the table the fact that I'm a relentless football player," Muncy said. "I'm going to do whatever it takes to make this team and make an impact.

"The Bengals were always my team growing up, even when they were pretty bad back in the '90s. I like (head coach) Marvin Lewis and what he's done. I'm just glad I get to be a part of it."

Despite leading the Bobcats with a career-high 17 tackles for loss in 2006, being named first-team All-MAC two straight years and making 38 straight starts, Muncy (6-foot-1, 242 pounds) wasn't invited to the NFL Combine.

But that didn't stop the Bengals from pursuing him.

They brought him to Cincinnati on April 18 for a comprehensive physical exam and a battery of interviews. "I got an opportunity," he said. "That's all I was looking for. I'm very excited."

The key to making the roster? Muncy's performance in coverage on special teams. He must become a human wrecking ball.
