Odell Thurman's representative, John Michels, plans on filing a letter to the Players Union requesting that they go to bat for the Cincinnati Bengals middle linebacker, in an attempt to appeal the head-scratching year long suspension, reports Geoff Hobson. If anything, Thurman's team asks, is a reduction. I believe an explanation for Thurman's denial is also in order.
Perhaps the league should entertain the idea of setting up a discipline committee with an odd numbered group of people. Perhaps five owners, rotated per season. Who knows? However, a single man dictating his personal moral compass, to me, sets the NFL up for an uneasy alliance between owners and the players union.
