It occurred to me when I was looking through the numbers of a dysfunctional rushing offense dating back to 2007, that we should list other "last times" as a means to, you know, cheer for something other than victory; those are in really short supply. At the same time, if the team masters the art of resetting these "last times", then a victory will be likely.
The Last Time...
...a Bengals running back rushed for 100 yards or more. Kenny Watson rushed for 130 yards on December 23, 2007 against the Cleveland Browns (week 16).
...the Bengals rushed for over 200 yards in one game. On November 28, 2004 (week 12), the Bengals rushed for 253 yards in a 58-48 win over the Cleveland Browns.
- Rudi Johnson: 26 rushes, 202 yards rushing, two touchdowns
- T.J. Houshmandzadeh: 2 rushes, 17 yards rushing
- Kenny Watson: 1 rush, 15 yards rushing
- Carson Palmer: 2 rushes, 10 yards rushing
- Chad Johnson: 1 rush, 9 yards rushing
...a Bengals quarterback threw for 300 yards or more. In their season finale (December 30, 2007) against the Miami Dolphins, Carson Palmer completed 23 of 32 passes for 316 yards passing. The Bengals won 38-25.
...a Bengals quarterback recorded five touchdowns or more. In the Bengals 45-51 loss to the Cleveland Browns on September 16, 2007 (week 2), Carson Palmer recorded six touchdown passes, throwing for 400 yards (the last time that's happened too).
...a Bengals wide receiver recorded 200 yards or more receiving. During the 45-51 loss to the Browns on week two in 2007, Chad Johnson recorded 209 yards receiving on 11 receptions. Only seven times in the history of the Cincinnati franchise has a receiver surpassed the 200-yard mark; two of the top three highest yards receiving in a game are owned by Chad (260 against the Chargers in 2006 is the other).
...the Bengals ran 75 plays or more in a game. During the 35-6 beating of the Tennessee Titans on November 25, 2007 (week 12) the Bengals ran 75 plays on offense.
...the Bengals defense held an opposing offense below 200 yards total. On October 29, 2000, the Bengals defense held the Browns offense to only 182 yards total in a 12-3 week nine win.
...the Bengals defense held an opposing quarterback to under 100 yards passing. This is somewhat skewed, but the Bengals defense held Ben Roethlisberger to 93 yards passing on 14 attempts in a 27-13 Steelers win on October 23, 2005 (week 7).
..the Bengals defense held an opponent to under 50 yards rushing. On December 10, 2006 (week 14), the Bengals defense held the Oakland Raiders to 45 yards rushing -- Justin Fargas 37 yards, Aaron Brooks 11 yards, ReShard Lee -3 yards. (note: the Bengals held the Arizona Cardinals on November 18, 2007 to 50-yards rushing (52 yards rushing by Edgerrin James, and a two-yard loss rushing by Kurt Warner... since that's at 50 yards rushing and not below it, this doesn't quality).
...the Bengals defense limited the opposing offense to under 50 plays. On November 26, 2006, the Bengals held the Cleveland Browns to only 47 plays on offense in the week 12, 30-0 shutout.
...the Bengals shutout the opposing team. See above.
(and finally)
..the last time the Bengals won a regular season football game. On December 30, 2007 (week 17) the Bengals beat the 1-15 Miami Dolphins 38-25.
Do you have any? Or are there stats that you'd like to know?
