Report: Bengals traded for Dewayne Robertson

Reports that the Bengals acquired defensive tackle, Dewayne Robertson are "premature" says Robertson's agent, Hadley Engelhard. The report says that Bengals are giving up their fourth and fifth picks for Robertson to the New York Jets. The former UK Wildcat was the fourth pick in the 2003 draft has played every game except for three in 2005 (i.e., durable). He's recorded 14.5 sacks in his career including a season-high four in 2007.

If you were to give me the choice between Shaun Rogers and Dewayne Robertson, I'd pick Robertson each time. And that's not because the Bengals lost out on Rogers. But weight and character are fanatical concerns. And one writer wrote that Rogers has the talent, but he's the type of guy that will break your heart each time.

Robertson is due a base salary of $6.8 million in 2008 and $4.5 million in 2009. If this trade is going to happen, the hold-up now could be a physical and/or a contract extension. We'll see how this report for a Robertson trade develops throughout the day.
