Tab Perry released from Miami after major injury

The Miami Dolphins cut former Bengals wide receiver Tab Perry after the team signed him to a one-year deal under $1 million. The "return specialist" tore his Achilles tendon on Saturday. The injury could end Perry's short, once promising career. Perry was a restricted free agent with Cincinnati when the Bengals choose to waive him rather than sign him hoping to bring him back under a minimum contract because of injury worries.

Perry holds several franchise records as a kickoff return specialist with Cincinnati; most kickoff return yards in a season (1,562 in 2005), most kickoff returns in a season (64), tied for most returns in a game (8). His 197 kickoff return yards against Pittsburgh on December 4, 2005, is the fourth most in franchise history for a single game. His 24.4 yards-per-return for his Cincinnati career is third best in franchise history and his 94-yard return against the Steelers is tied for seventh best for a single game.
