Carson Palmer will return when Bengals "begin practice again"

Geoff Hobson reported that Marvin Lewis thinks Carson Palmer should be good to go the next time the Bengals practice. Hobson indicated that he wasn't sure if Lewis meant "Wednesday's walkthrough or Saturday's practice, but it sounded like Palmer will play in that Sept. 3 preseason finale." This is good news for fans that are worried Palmer would be too out of rhythm with his offense when the regular season gets under way. Even if the Colts play backups the whole game, the important thing is that Carson gets back in the swing of playing game speed football and hitting receivers in timing.

Other notes from today's 2-hour practice: Palmer (ankle), Frostee Rucker (hip), Antwan Odom (achilles), and Antonio Chatman (ankle) missed practice. That suggests that Jonathan Luigs made it back to the practice field, unless Hobson omitted his name. Coach Lewis played crowd noise over the stadium's speaker systems to simulate a more realistic game-time environment.
