Bengals announce Team Captains for offense, defense and special teams

A lot of things needed to happen for the team to get ready for the season over the weekend. They had to cut 22 players from their roster to get within the 53-man limit -- well, 54 if you include Andre Smith's roster exemption; so that makes 21, for now. They had to rummage through the 700-plus players that were cut on the waiver wire and through free agency. They had to sign or claim anyone that they feel improves their team. Then they had to declare their practice squad roster. Seems like a busy weekend, doesn't it?

On Monday, they started making adjustments on the starting lineup. Afterward, the Bengals announced their team captains. On offense, the obvious choices were made with Carson Palmer and Andrew Whitworth. On defense, the team voted Dhani Jones and Domata Peko as the defensive captains and Kyries Hebert was voted as the Special Teams Captain.
