Bengals Place Kicker Search Narrows: Steelers Release Jeff Reed And Sign Shaun Suisham

With Mike Nugent gone for the year with an ACL tear in his knee, the Bengals are searching for a new place kicker to fill the roll for the final seven-game stretch of the disappointing season. The team is hoping to have a kicker signed by Wednesday.

One free agent kicker you can scratch from the list of possible replacements is Shaun Suisham. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pittsburgh Steelers released veteran place kicker Jeff Reed and signed Suisham on Tuesday.

The Post-Gazette reported that Suisham, who was cut in by the Steelers in training camp in 2005, worked out Heinz Field in gray conditions this morning under the watchful eye of Coach Mike Tomlin and director of football operations Kevin Colbert.

Now Reed is a free agent and, well, no. I'm not even going to think like that.
