With the 54th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap. The Bengals have questions heading into the 2010 NFL season with Antwan Odom coming off a serious injury and Robert Geathers' continued performance degradation as a pass rusher. Although Jonathan Fanene did yeoman work in place of Odom, the Cincinnati Bengals finished the season ranked 16th with 34 sacks. Average. The Bengals struggled finishing the season with only nine sacks in the final seven games, losing four games during that span. In only five games did the defense record more than two quarterbacks sacks.
Also consider that the Bengals will be facing some of the league's best passing offenses, having a quality pass rush is somewhat of a necessity. Along with some immediate help, Dunlap joining forces with Michael Johnson creates an exciting youth movement at the position with two pass rushers that could cause major headaches.
