Bengals Coaches To Coach The North Team In The 2011 Senior Bowl

During last week's press conference to re-introduce Marvin Lewis as the Bengals head coach, Lewis said:

"I have always felt that if we're not going to be coaching in the NFL playoffs, we should go to work and get to know some of the new prospects as well as we can," Lewis said. "Coaching the Senior Bowl has been extremely helpful the two times we've had an opportunity to do it. I think it's always a plus. It gives you a good insight into the players - to their temperaments, how they learn, what kind of guys they are and how they compete."

Fortunately, Lewis will get his wish.

According to the Enquirer's Joe Reedy, the Bengals coaching staff will coach the North team on January 29 during the 62nd Senior Bowl, which will air on the NFL Network at 4pm.

As to whether coaching in the Senior Bowl helps, consider that the Bengals coached the North squad twice, in 2004 and 2009. Chris Perry, Keiwan Ratliff, Madieu Williams, Caleb Miller, Landon Johnson headlined the team's draft picks from first three rounds of the 2004 NFL Draft. In the final four rounds, only Robert Geathers and Stacy Andrews remains in the NFL. Everyone save for Freddie Brown and Jonathan Luigs remains with the Bengals from the 2009 NFL Draft.

Here are the players that will be in this year's Senior Bowl.
