Silly Season Continues: Rumors Surface Of Chad Ochocinco Leaving For The Oakland Raiders

A rumor materialized last week after Chad Ochocinco sent a tweet to a Boston Herald beat writer that a Chad and Bill Belichick union would be "epic". After that, nothing. Because realistically, the only way Chad can join the Patriots is if he's released. And we honestly believe that the Bengals won't release him outright without exhausting all options to trade the wide receiver. Additionally, the Chad can't be traded until after a new Collective Bargaining Agreement is signed.

Thankfully, that doesn't stop the rumor-mill (called the Silly Season in NASCAR).

On Thursday, a new rumor surfaced that Chad Ochocinco could be on his way to the Oakland Raiders. The rumor is based on several tweets by Chad Ochocinco, praising Hue Jackson, saying he would play for the man anywhere he went.

“It would be refreshing to be with Hue Jackson again. I know I wouldn’t have to worry about being thrown under a bus again.”

The reference of being thrown under the bus came when Lewis responded to a San Diego reporter's question as to why Chad had been quiet all week. Lewis said he was being "mopey" while in reality, the wide receiver was dealing with bone spurs that would eventually keep him out for the final two games of the year. In hindsight, Chad can't handle not being cradled like a mother holding a son and the truth is, Marvin should have been a little more diplomatic when talking about Chad in the media because it's not like things can be taken out of context.

When asked about the tweet about Chad and Bill uniting in New England, Lewis said on Thursday:

"Nobody was talking about him. He didn't stand that," Lewis said. "You want them to talk about you, win football games."
