On Sunday Carson Palmer demanded a trade to another team or else he'll play the retirement card, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
More information is slowly leaking out.
According to Joe Reedy, Mike Brown said that he and Carson Palmer met last week, who at the time asked to be traded. We suspected originally that there's no way that the Bengals would trade Carson Palmer, their franchise quarterback. Even for three first round draft picks.
Mike Brown reiterated that again on Monday saying, "We are not trading Carson."
Mike Brown also said:
“He is key to our plans, he’s central to us,” Brown said. “He was told that and that we count on him going forward. He was told that we are not in a position to trade him.”
On if he'll actually retire.
“We’ll just have to see how it plays out,” Brown said. “We’ll reach out to him and understand the things that are in his craw. Maybe there are things we can do that will appeal to him. We’ll try to and see whether we can get it fit back together again in the future.”
So, retirement it is. I hear Southern California has good weather this time of year.
