Bengals Add Adam Jones to 53-Man Roster

Because Cedric Benson is serving a one-game suspension this week when the Bengals travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks, the Bengals have decided to add Adam Jones, who recently came off the physically unable to perform list, to the 53-man roster in his place.

Marvin Lewis has been happy with Jones' work during practices this week.

"He’s had a good week of practices. He’s done everything he can do, he can’t tackle anymore dummies than he’s tackled including this week. For the last month he’s gone through the entire progression. He’s worked hard to get this opportunity. It’s later than it’s been due to the lockout because they (the medical staff) couldn’t monitor him but he’s come back great from it."

Since Benson doesn't count against the roster this week, the Bengals won't have to release anybody to add Jones to the active roster. They will have to release somebody from their 53-man roster on Monday when Benson returns to practice though.
