Jacksonville Jaguars Take 7-0 Lead After Jones-Drew Touchdown

The Jacksonville Jaguars' offense took the game's first snap from scrimmage, gaining 13 yards on a pitch to the left with Maurice Jones-Drew. On the following play, considering how successful the first play was, Jacksonville pitched to the right by Rey Maualuga held his lane shutting down the pitch. On third and three with 13:40 remaining in the first quarter, quarterback Blaine Gabbert hit receiver Jason Hill on a hitch to the right for a ten-yard gain and the first down.

Rolling with two first downs on the drive from the midfield, Gabbert play-faked the first down handoff and tried hitting Cecil Shorts on a deep pass over the middle, nearly picked off by Chris Crocker. After a limited three-yard run by Jones-Drew up the middle, Gabbert finds Mike Thomas on a fade towards the right sidelines during third-and-seven with Nate Clements covering for a 24-yard gain and the Jacksonville's third first down on the drive entering the red zone for only the fourth time in the young season.

Jacksonville reached the six-yard after a 12-yard pitch to the left, leaving just under nine minutes in the first quarter. Jones-Drew took the handoff, bounced off two tackles and spun into the end zone to take a 7-0 lead.
