Mistakes Cost The Bengals Three Points, Jacksonville Takes A 10-7 Lead

Brandon Tate unwisely takes Jacksonville's punt with 14:38 left in the second quarter at the seven-yard, forcing the Bengals offense to play close to their own endzone. Bernard Scott takes over as the team's running back and picks up nothing on the first down run. Dalton, inside the end zone, looks for a receiver and hangs up a pass down the left sidelines for A.J. Green. Dwight Lowery, appearing to play Cover Two, jumped the pass and intercepted Dalton's pass, who saved the touchdown at their own two-yard line.

Quarterback Blaine Gabbert tried to hit tight end Marcedes Lewis, who bobbled the pass for an incomplete in the end zone. Jacksonville calls a Jones-Drew run to the left, stuffed by linebacker Thomas Howard for a big loss. On third down Gabbert completed an eight-yard pass to Mike Thomas, who was immediately dropped by Leon Hall two yards short of the goal line, forcing Jacksonville to convert a 19-yard field goal to take a 10-7 lead.

Great work by the defense to prevent a touchdown, and in hindsight, good tackle by Andy Dalton during his interception to prevent a touchdown. Regardless mistakes cost the Bengals three points.
