Bengals Defensive Snap Breakdown Against The Houston Texans

The Cincinnati Bengals acquired safety Taylor Mays from the 49ers for San Francisco's seventh round pick... in the 2013 NFL Draft. Mays played 22 snaps on defense on Sunday against Houston, his highest of the year with 12 of those snaps in pass coverage. Twice Houston quarterback T.J. Yates targeted receivers Mays covered, who only allowed one eight-yard reception during the afternoon -- the other was labeled a pass defensed. Mays also posted a quarterback pressure and a season-high three tackles on the afternoon. Thomas Howard registered 74 snaps on defense, 25 more snaps than starting middle linebacker Rey Maualuga making us wonder if the middle linebacker suffered an injury following the fumble he forced and recovered in the second quarter on Ben Tate. After the play Maualuga was on the sidelines momentarily hunched over. Your weekly defensive snaps breakdown.
