Cincinnati Bengals right tackle Andre Smith missed the team's Week 14 game against the Houston Texans due to an ankle injury suffered the week before. He returned to practice, in a limited capacity, on Wednesday but missed practice on Thursday. On Friday, he showed up to the team's facility wearing a boot on his right foot.
RT Andre Smith showed up on Friday wearing a boot on his right foot. He's been battling this injury for two weeks, but this is the first time he's worn anything on it. He said he'll attempt to practice today, but obviously, it appears he'll be on the sidelines Sunday.
Smith's three-year career has been defined by injuries so far. After holding out on signing his rookie contract in 2009, he came into camp overweight and immediately broke a bone in his foot. He missed the majority of his rookie season. He had offseason surgery before the 2010 season but still missed all of mini camp and the majority of the games in his second season after re-injuring the same foot.
This year was the first time that Smith had attended the team's mini camp and he has started in a career high 12 games so far. If he misses the team's Week 15 game in St. Louis against the Rams, backup tackle Anthony Collins, who played well against the Texans, will start in his place.
We'll keep you updated on Smith's status and stay tuned for the team's full practice report later today.
