Arizona Cardinals Announce Bengals Asst. Louie Cioffi As The Team's Defensive Backs Coach

Bengals assistant defensive backs coach Louie Cioffi has been expected to leave Cincinnati when the Arizona Cardinals hired Ray Horton as the team's defensive coordinator. However, for a week, nothing was announced and all that was known was that an interview was taking place on Monday.

Now we can close the book on the story.

According to Fox Sports' Adam Caplan, former Cioffi was officially named to the Arizona Cardinals coaching staff.

Cioffi becomes the third coach to leave Cincinnati this offseason. Offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski was fired on January 31 and wide receivers coach Mike Sheppard joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as the team's quarterback coach.

Not that they are coaches, but you could also include the fact the Bengals have changed doctors.

As much as we would love to shout change, the hard reality is that the only change that the team is known to have made on their own, is the firing of Bratkowski. If Sheppard wasn't offered the job in Jacksonville, he'd still be the team's wide receivers coach. And if Horton didn't offer Cioffi a promotion as a defensive backs coach, he'd still be an assistant under Kevin Coyle. And if the doctors didn't submit their resignation, they could still be the team doctors -- whether or not it was forced, we don't know.

Yea, sometimes I come down with that pessimistic bug. My bad.
