After Jaws oversalted the popcorn, we sat down in the film room and evaluated the SD Chargers. One thing that stuck out was their turnover margin. This led to spoiled games which prevented the Chargers from reaching the playoffs. Initially, we were searching for a disruptive force on the d line. They already feel more confident in their defensive backfield w the acquisition of Bob Sanders. This force would put more pressure on opposing qbs and create more turnovers. However, with all of the top talent already drafted on the d line, we opted for top talent on the other side of the ball.

Mike Pouncey should help San Diego in the battle for turnovers. They can take some pressure off of their pro bowl qb and give more confidence in their second year, first round pick in Matthews. This will give them more ball control on offense and hopefully slow down their game by keeping their d off of the field.

Mike is a mauler and comes from a good pedigree. If he performs anywhere near his brother, they can feel good about drafting Matthews last year. Keep in mind his brother went to the pro bowl his rookie year. Norv Turner loves him some offense and they still have the whole draft to look for defense.
