Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin

The Eagles gave up 52 sacks last year. Michael Vick cannot take that kind of punishment if the Eagles expect to win games. Carimi might not be a NFL left tackle but he has the skills to play a long time in this league. He has the ability to play both inside and out. He should come right in and help keep Vick on the field.

The Eagles are also in great need of CB help but I feel there are talented corners to be had in the 2nd or 3rd round or in free agency (if we have it). Carimi is a true Andy Reid player. A blue collar mauler who can play multiple positions. When it comes down to it the offensive line was horrible last year. The Andrews experiment didn't work.

At 6' 7" and 315lbs Carimi anchored the Badgers line last year and helped pave the way for 3 different 800 yard rushers. He is a smart and athletic player. As with every player, Carimi has his downsides. I dont feel he can be a true left tackle in this league. Hes not quick enough to handle the great speed rushers, but Vick is a lefty and Carimi should translate into a great NFL right tackle. With this pick the Eagles get the best OL available on their board.
