Jurrell Casey - DT - USC

When a new coach comes into an organization, he usually likes to change some schemes around, and this usually leads to a need to draft (or pick up in free agency) a few guys who fit his scheme better than the old scheme. When the team is also a poor one, it's almost like adding insult to injury, now you need LOTS of new players. Such is pretty much the Browns situation these days. At least they don't seem to need a QB at the moment, which is a nice change of pace from the last few years. I really considered giving them some help for the right side of the OL, which they also need, but it seems what they need most is basically every spot on the DL. Going from a 3-4 to a 4-3 isn't much easier of a transition than going the other way, after all.

So I selected Jurrell Casey for them. He's been compared to Sedrick Ellis in New Orleans, and while he obviously won't be drafted nearly as highly, he likely could enjoy a similar career. He's definitely a backfield disruptor, which is very useful, and while his short arms may prevent him from making it to the ranks of the elite he should at least make it to the ranks of the quite good. While he has also played the nose in college, he'll almost certainly be primarily the 3-technique "under tackle" in the NFL, except perhaps on passing downs if the Browns choose to play two rush DTs. Still, he should be a useful contributor and right now the Browns need all of those they can get.
