Edmond Gates - WR - Abilene Christian

Having found replacements for Ron Edwards and Mike Vrabel in the first two rounds with DT Corey Liuget and OLB Sam Acho, the Chiefs turn their attention to the other side of the ball. While the offensive line could use some new blood, the obvious weak link on the team last year was at wide receiver. Dwayne Bowe has developed into an excellent starter, but Chris Chambers has been a big disappointment. We feel that with a few months of studying the playbook and practicing running NFL routes, Edmond Gates could be ready to step onto the field as a slot receiver and use his blazing speed to open up defenses.

To see the impact Gates is expected to have for the Chiefs, just take a look at what his good friend Johnny Knox has done for Chicago. They went to the same college, are the same age, and posted their blazing combine 40 time in the same shoes. Not the same brand or style, the exact same shoes. The two major differences between them are the fact that Knox is a little more polished as a route runner and Gates ran that combine-best time with a pulled groin. Some have questioned Edmond's character, but we've met the man. The world around him has been a tough one to navigate, but he's stayed out of trouble and we have no qualms about his ability to continue along the right path.
