Jeron Johnson, SS, Boise State

After helping out the defensive line in the first round, the Jets still need to fill one more hole on defensive. Picking Johnson here would help fill that hole and gives Rex Ryan a guy he can work with and try to create a dangerous defensive back. Johnson led Boise State in tackles each of his last three seasons. Johnson has good speed for a safety and great upper body strength. In his senior season he had 82 tackles with over half of them being solo. If he can improve his ability to play in a zone and become better at wrapping up for tackles he could become an explosive defensive back. Drafting Johnson here and Phil Taylor in the first takes care of most the needs on defense. Which allows them to add depth to the offense with the rest of their picks.
