With the (nearly) final pick in our little mock draft, the Green Bay Packers have selected Sean Weaver, All Around Football Superstar from Eastern Kentucky University (Just Kidding).

Orlando Franklin, OT/OG, Arkansas

As it came closer and closer to our pick and Ted Thompson realized that there still a guy that we nearly drafted in the previous round on the draft board, Ted nearly wet himself in joy. Orlando Franklin is the lucky fella that remains head and shoulders above the others on our grade scale and draft board. Ted and I discussed him in the last round and he said that Franklin, the offensive lineman from Miami, "...is a huge fella. Could be a great OT or Guard, but could also be a total bust. Who knows..."

So, we don’t think he is a sure thing, but as a team that is the current king of the league, we have earned the right to take a reach and try to swing for the fences. We figure he gives us depth at tackle, one of the weaker spots on the team, and could swing to a guard in a pinch. Moreover, he gives us the potential for a right tackle of the future. With Bulaga slated to replace the aging Clifton at LT as soon as this season, it is possible that he could be a starting RT sooner rather than later. And Colledge and Sitton aren’t seen as sure things at the guards, so it is possible he could be an upgrade inside.

Overall, Franklin is seen as a technically sound blocker that doesn’t have top end athleticism. He wins his battles with technique and brains. He solid in both pass and run blocking, and is a good pulling/ trap blocker. Overall, he is a good fit for our O-Line scheme. This is a pick, that with good coaching, could be later seen as a steal. And if we end up with a bust? Well, its only a third round pick, so who cares?
