Colin McCarthy - ILB - Miami

After putting alot of thought into selecting Casey Matthews in the second round, Jaws recommend that I check tape on McCarthy from Miami. Ok sure, why not, a linebacker from a school that breeds linebackers like Vick does pitbulls. He was right this guy possesses a ton of speed and can deliver a hit with the best of them. As a ILB, he us most noted for his play against the run. All you need to do to see how effective this guy is, is look at his sophomore season. No one could run on the Hurricanes before he was lost for the year. The first four games with McCarthy in the lineup opposing teams only averaged 65 yards a game on the ground. After his shoulder injury through the rest of the year, they finished last against the run.

The Chargers are desperate for a linebacker. After addressing both o and d line with the first two picks, there is no way they could pass on this linebacker. Someone needs to pick up where Merriman left off. Defense is the obvious side of the ball to improve with during the draft. Rivers automatically keeps the offense on point. The safety position has been replaced with a leap of faith in Bob Sanders. Vincent Jackson should return to his 2009 form. With the addition of McCarthy, I feel that with the first three picks in this draft, the Chargers have three new starters. Keep missin boys!
