Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Cris Collinsworth has one more piece of mantle bling to go along with his 1981 AFC Championship ring, his signed picture of Jason Garrison and 11 Emmy Awards for sports journalism. That new award is yet another Emmy, won on Monday night for his role on NBC's "Sunday Night Football." The latest Emmy was for Outstanding Event Analyst.
Collinsworth has won four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Event Analyst and another eight for Best Studio Analyst. His Emmy helped NBC tie HBO for most Sports Emmy Awards.
Collinsworth — the former Bengals receiver and WLW-AM "SportsTalk" host from Fort Thomas – helped NBC tie with HBO for the most Sports Emmys (7) last night, while his NBC broadcast partner Al Michaels was presented a lifetime achievement award.
It's looking like Collinsworth is going to have to remove something from his mantle to make room for his latest Emmy. I wonder what it will be. I bet it's the ring.
