As was pointed out on Tuesday, Bengals rookie Robert Sands finally joined the team during workouts this week after missing last week's workouts thanks to a bad email address Domata Peko had of Sands. According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Sands heard about the team workouts and reached out to Peko, arriving on Sunday.

Sands, a rookie safety selected in the fifth during the 2011 NFL Draft, is expected to be high on the team's depth chart this season. Possibly as high as being the first backup behind starters Chris Crocker and Reggie Nelson. Now that Sands is with the Bengals, he has to learn to adjust to the NFL game.

“I feel pretty good. The other defensive backs are helping me learn the plays and getting a good grasp of the plays and terminology,” Sands said. “As a rookie, I’m going in at a little bit of a disadvantage because we have to pick up the speed and tempo of the veteran guys but also learn the plays.”

Said Peko of Sands: “I’m real excited about him. He’s got tremendous size and ability. Its real good to have someone like that on our side.”

You have to like Sands. Even though he missed last week's workouts, he was the one that reached out to Peko to make sure he didn't miss this week's workouts. That's character we could use.
